Why work needs to be done

Over the last few years there has been significant deterioration in the stonework which has required putting a fence around the building to prevent anyone being injured by potential falling masonry.

This is a temporary measure!

Working with conservation experts, a lot of work has gone into planning what needs to be done to make the building safe and how best to preserve it for use by future generations.

A conservation architect has prepared a report and a schedule of works and the task now is to raise sufficient funds to carry out the work.

The proposed programme of work includes improvements to the interior such as a new heating and lighting system which will make the building much more environmentally friendly and comfortable to use throughout the year.

The estimated cost is around £4.2 million

This is a considerable sum for the congregation and community to raise.

We need your help.
