Due to demand, we are now accepting bookings for 2027. If you are interested in performing in our Summer Music Festival in 2027, then please email music.festival@dunkeldcathedral.org with as a minimum, the following details:
- Name of your group
- Name(s) of the performer(s) and their instruments/voices
- Concert Title (Optional – you an let us know nearer the time)
- Programme/Repertoire – Guidance on what you may play and the genre so we can schedule the concert appropriately. You can confirm the programme nearer the time.
The Dunkeld Cathedral Summer Music Festival 2027 will run from May to August 2027 with the following concert schedule:
- Every Wednesday lunchtime from 12:00-1:00pm throughout the festival, starting May 5th till August 25th
- Additional Sunday afternoon concerts from 3:00-4:00pm throught July and August, beginning Sunday July 4th with our finale concert on Sunday August 29th
Note that we often run extra concerts to accommodate demand, so if none of the dates below work for you, then advise us of your preferred date(s). Note we cannot guarentee accomodating additional dates and will not be able to confirm them until Spring 2027.
We can provide a limited fee for professional musicians.

Performers and Musicians
Please read the guidance provided below before applying.
Programme Guidance
For performers unfamiliar with the Cathedral we provide the following guidance to help plan your concert:
- Concerts take place in the choir of the cathedral which can seat up to 220. An average audience across the summer is 70-80.
- Concerts should last no longer than 1 hour so plan for no more than 40-45 minutes of material. It is recommended to have an encore available.
- If you don’t wish to be a sole performer/group and would prefer to perform within a concert, then let us know. We are planning to have a couple of concerts made up of two or more performers to encourage participation of amateur performers/groups.
- The audience is primarily made up of tourists and visitors to Dunkeld and the cathedral. Therefore whatever genre of music you perform, keep in mind that for the majority of the audience it may not be their specialism. We therefore recommend keeping your choice of programme balanced and approachable to a wider audience.
- We encourage an informal atmosphere and performers will find the auidance very supportive when they share why they are performing a piece, its background etc.
- The Cathedral has a wonderful acoustic with a significant delay, so whilst we invite all types of music, the building itself is more suited to voice, classical, chamber or folk music.
- There is a good quality Yamaha digital stage piano available which has been successfully used for both accompaniment and for recitals by concert pianists.
Concert Slots
If you want to perform but the standard concert slots are not suitable e.g. you prefer a Saturday over a Sunday etc. then contact us to discuss. We will try and accommodate exceptions to the schedule if required.

Booking the Cathedral as a Concert Venue
If you wish to book the cathedral as a concert venue then please contact music.festival@dunkeldcathedral.org. Concerts would be by arrangement and whilst we may not act as promoters for your concert, by agreement, we can help support you by including the concert in our festival marketing.
Organists
The cathedral organ was built by Bevington of London in 1908 and stands centrally in the West gallery. It has two manuals, pedals and sixteen stops. The instrument has been modified several times, most recently by Sandy Edmonstone of Perth in 1988 and 2002. Whilst a modest instrument, it is ideally sized for the building and benefits from the wonderful acoustic. It is perfectly capable of playing the full range of classical organ repetoire.
